Marlis Schweitzer is a Professor of Theatre and Performance Studies in the Department of Theatre & Performance at York University. She is the author of When Broadway Was the Runway: Theater, Fashion, and Consumer Culture (2009), Transatlantic Broadway: The Infrastructural Politics of Global Performance (2015) and Bloody Tyrants and Little Pickles: Stage Roles of Anglo-American Girls in the Nineteenth Century (2020), recipient of the 2021 George Freedley Memorial Award from the Theatre Library Association. With Laura Levin, Marlis is co-editor of Performance Studies in Canada, recipient of the 2018 Patrick O’Neill Award for best edited book. She is a member of the Royal Society College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists, and a Tier 2 York Research Chair in Theatre and Performance History.
