Moderator: (Re)casting Shakespeare in Canada
Jeff Yung (he/him) is a Tkarón:to based actor, martial artist, and sometimes poet and 1⁄4 of the Shakespeare in the Ruff artistic leadership collective. As an actor Jeff recently appeared in the world premieres Prodigal with The Howland Company in association with Crow’s Theatre and Trojan Girls and the Outhouse of Atreus a co-production between Outside the March and Factory Theatre. He’s acted in several productions for the indie Shakespeare company Shakespeare BASH’d making appearances in their productions of Measure for Measure, Gorboduc, Twelfth Night, King John, and Romeo and Juliet. Before becoming a member of the Shakespeare in the Ruff Artistic Leadership Collective Jeff appeared in their production of Portia’s Julius Caesar alongside fellow collective member Christine Horne. Other theatre work includes: Monday Nights (PuSh & LUMINATO & Theatre Centre), Antigone (YPT), Vietgone (Royal MTC/fu-Gen), and Banana Boys (Factory Theatre). As a producer Jeff has been on the producing teams for their two inaugural Ruff’s Winter Tale’s, producing staged readings of Shakespeare’s Nigga by Joseph Jomo Pierre and Queen Margaret by Jeanie O’Hare. Jeff is a graduate of Toronto Metropolitan University.
