Max Ferguson

Max Ferguson (He/They) is the current Tanis Doe Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Disability Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University. Max completed his PhD in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at York University in June 2024. His research focuses on intersectional and anti-colonial approaches to transness and disability, madness, neoliberalism, suicidism, and necropolitics. A practicing artist since 1996, Max received their BFA from the University of Regina in 2001, and a Bachelor of Journalism in 2013. He graduated with an MFA in Interdisciplinary Studies (Visual Art and Women’s and Gender Studies) in 2017. His artwork revolves around photography, sculpture, installation and performance, and involves psychoanalysis, the body, activism, queer/trans theory, madness, and neurodivergence.
