Rimah Jabr

Panelist: Facing Backlash

Rimah Jabr is a theatre director, playwright, filmmaker, and Ph.D. candidate in Theatre and Performance
Studies at York University. She completed her MA in Theatre Making from the Erasmus Hogeschool in
Brussels (RITCS) in 2014. Rimah has written and directed several plays, produced in Belgium, Canada,
and Palestine, including Two Ladybugs (2013), The Prisoner (2013), The Apartment (2014), and High
Heels and Stuffed Zucchini (2015). Her recent co-creations include Two Birds, One Stone (2018) and
Broken Shapes (2022).

Rimah often collaborates with visual artists to create performances. Her latest work,This is Not What I
Want to Tell You—an audio drama with installation—is a collaboration with visual artist Bianca Guimaraes De Manuel. It was presented at Festival CARTA in Antwerp in April 2024, and will be showcased in Toronto at The Theatre Centre from May 14-18, 2025.

Rimah’s debut as a filmmaker is the award-winning short film De-Clutter (2023), which was developed with support from the Toronto Palestine Film Festival and Cinephilia Productions. The film was showcased at the Toronto Palestine Film Festival in 2024.
